IDIA-TN CHAPTER
IDIA Charitable Trust (Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education) is a pan-Indian, student-run non-profit organiszation that aims to empower underprivileged children communities by giving access to quality legal education to youth from such communities. It was started by the late Prof. (Dr.) Shamnad Basheer in 2010 when he was teaching at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences. It trains underprivileged students over 1-2 years and helps them transform into leading lawyers and community advocates. IDIA is supported by top Indian law firms and legal luminaries from across India., IDIA student chapters also organise crowd- fundraising events.
IDIA Tamil Nadu Chapter was instituted in the School of Excellence in Law – The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University in the year 2017. The Chapter firmly believes that the 1st step in achieving equality is to provide equal opportunity in the field of education, for education sculpts the way you perceive yourself and society. The Chapter is presently engaged in efforts to raise funds to train IDIA trainees to take the CLAT examination and support the trainees who clear the examination and gain admission to law schools. LEXATHON is one such attempt of the Chapter with a dual objective of creating awareness about the IDIA mission and to raise funds to support the cause of IDIA.
Lexathon is a marathon conducted to raise funds for our activities to aid and support the underprivileged law aspirants to pursue a career in law. It is for the benefit of the underprivileged children in our IDIA Tamil Nadu Chapter. Our sensitising team selects potential candidates with an aptitude law. You can help us by donating to our social cause. Join us in our ‘LEXATHON 2.0’ (legal marathon) to be a part of this noble initiative.
“Let’s come together and try to make a change, A change for the better ! - Rise and run.”
